Self-Forgiveness

“Taking responsibility for one’s actions, feeling genuine remorse, working towards restoring any damage done, and seeking personal renewal are the foundational steps to achieve true self-forgiveness.” - Better Help

Moving past your past you automatically create faith in your future. Your energy and belief within is vital to developing a healthy environment to thrive and prosper. I’ve been beyond fortunate in life to be influenced and surrounded by incredible people from all different walks of life for which I hold immense gratitude.

Words are very powerful and for over a decade I’ve been bound by a message that I received when I was 25 years old from a business partner. It has haunted me everyday subconsciously causing deep insecurity, guilt and shame that wasn’t my own but what I took on. The message below was sent November 28th, 2012 , I’ve blacked out the names mentioned and wont release the author. The powerlessness I felt was beyond and although I’ve proven to myself the statement below false it’s impact was felt.

Jerome,

Your intellectual incompetence and self-entitlement continues to astound me. Especially the stolen IP part, as if you ever in your life developed any IP or as if you had the capability to do so. From the tone of your post, I would say that ***** **** told you off (like others for whom you are a laughing stock lately, probably after he spoke with ***** guys)

Either file papers and sue us if you think you have anything or you will be hit with a liable suit yourself. So many people are tired of your shit currently.

*****, ******, *****….. I am still in touch with them and they have a thing or two to say about you and the nature of our relationship. Especially **** and her mother.

I was a driven young man with a dream which was destroyed and then re-born, however this message has not allowed me to fully trust, love and accept blessings into my life. Some people feel the weight and disappointment of family, friends or loved ones and at the time I felt that along with a whole province and Atlantic Canada region.

In the summer of 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic there was also the global uprising in response to the brutal de-humanizing death of George Floyd while in police custody in the United States. These incidents still happen however also in the board rooms and offices. I call these situations “White Collar George Floyd”, not to be little or mock the force and gravity of what happened to Mr. Flyod but more so to acknowledge its existence in different ways and pervasive impact within society through different means.

This happens also with abuse of power such as public mischief using the threat or act of “false reporting of a crime to the police, which distracts police from other important responsibilities and community infinitives”, I’ve been a victim of this behavior and have done my best to not be burden by it. For all those who have ever felt let down and who I’ve ever disappointed I hope you accept my genuine apology and one day can forgive, this post is a catalyst and way to finally forgive myself.

I’d encourage anyone who is on a journey of self-discovery and improvement, who has a goal or dream. Before powering through make sure to truly forgive yourself and don’t allow others pain, fear, misconceptions and or thoughts define you, and don’t respond back with pain. Calmness is power, look in the mirror, level up, correct behavior and move forward, take accountability and don’t distract yourself. Don’t allow fear, rejection, and or insecurity to lead your path. Embrace the light, acknowledge the darkness and don’t be afraid to try again. Life is a gift, appreciate the present.
